We follow the guidelines from the American Animal Hospital Association and create a wellness plan to best suit the individual needs of each patient.

  • All senior dogs should be seen at least twice annually for a physical exam, and some may need to be seen more frequently based on individual needs.
  • Heartworm testing as recommended by the American Heartworm Society
  • Yearly disease screening tests (CBC, blood chemistry, UA, fecal, thyroid, x-rays, other) customized plan based on assessment and follow-up of previously diagnosed conditions.
  • Assessment of aging changes such as sensory deficits, pain, mobility issues, cognitive function, body weight, and any changes that may be an indication of a disease process.
  • Hospice and palliative care, evaluating and improving quality of life
  • Year around parasite control and screening based on risk
  • Recommendations as needed for diet, dentistry, treatment, behavioral issues.
  • Core vaccinations (rabies, distemper, parvo, adenovirus)
  • Customized non-core vaccinations (leptospira, bordetella, influenza)
  • Establish a plan for follow-up as well as future care recommendations
  • Educational materials and thorough communication
