Veterinarians
Lewis King, Medical Director
Medical Director
Dr. Lewis King earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Sydney. He has more than six years of experience in large animal, small animal, and emergency veterinary medicine and pursues ongoing continuing education to stay current with best practices.
Dr. King was inspired by his father, a veterinarian, and developed a passion for veterinary medicine while accompanying him on farm calls. He finds it deeply fulfilling to provide both preventive care and urgent treatment when emergencies arise. Dr. King is especially committed to recognizing and managing pain in aging pets and helping owners access options to keep their companions comfortable and pain-free.
Outside the clinic, he and his fiancée enjoy skiing and hiking with their Australian Shepherd, Angie, who always keeps them on their toes. He also enjoys golfing and surfing whenever he gets the chance.
Melanie Schlote, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Melanie Schlote was born in Ontario, Canada, but has been in Colorado most of her life. She pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with minors in French and biomedical science at Colorado State University. She then went on to pursue to a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (also at Colorado State University) and graduated in 2018. During her time in undergrad and veterinary school, she always volunteered or worked as a veterinary technician to be around animals as much as possible. During veterinary school, she developed a very strong interest in pain management and thus pursued acupuncture certification in 2018. She also developed special interests in internal medicine and dentistry. She has four pets: Rue (Labrador Retriever), Cora (Golden Retriever), Gouda & Kermit (both orange and white tabby cats). In her free time, she loves hiking, paddle boarding, yoga, Zumba, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and snuggling all her animals.
Amelia Roos, DVM
Dr. Amelia Roos earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University and has eight years of experience in small animal practice. Prior to veterinary school, she also worked at a small animal clinic and gained additional training in anesthesia, pain management, and dentistry.
Dr. Roos’ passion for veterinary medicine began at a young age, inspired by growing up in a family that shared a deep love for animals. She enjoys caring for pets through every stage of life, from wellness visits and illness to surgery, and is passionate about supporting pet owners through education to help their companions thrive.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her wife, hiking, strength training, visiting local breweries, hosting bonfires with friends, and spending time with her three dogs.

Mark B., RVT
Certified and Registered Veterinary Technician
Mark started life in Montana and someday plans to retire there. In the meantime, he used his Computer Science degree to work in aerospace in Seattle on commercial jets and in Houston on the International Space Station and travel on many projects. As fun and rewarding as that sounds, he tired of the corporate life and turned to what was more important to him – animals. He moved to Denver and attended Bel-Rea, graduating in 2012, and has been happy ever since. When not working, he has volunteered for raptor education and homeless pet medical care, and he enjoys spending time outdoors. He currently exists to serve his two nap-mates, Penny and Ghost.
Hannah H.
Vet Assistant
After working as an EMT, Hannah made a career move to animal medicine in 2020. She quickly learned that she believed animals were better patients than humans. She loves providing compassionate care to every furry friend. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys hiking 14ers rock climbing, and writing poetry. Talk to her about your favorite backpacking trail!

Jonathan C.
Client Care Specialist
Jonathan, a San Antonio, Texas native, moved to Colorado in the Fall of 2022 – he says he is not from Colorado but got here as quickly as he could. His passion for animal care came when he was fresh out of high school and took on a kennel position at a local animal hospital. He loved to take care of the animals and play with them outside all day which grew an interest to learn more, thus he took on many positions in different fields of animal care. He managed an Emergency Animal Clinic, luxury boarding facility, and private and corporate practices to learn the best possible way to provide the best care for animals and their owners. In his free time, Jonathan likes to work on his cars, keep up with his fitness at the gym, and explore the beauty Colorado has to offer with boyfriend Adam and Maya, a Shepherd Pitbull mix. Jonathan is also pet parent to Santi, a Russian Blue.
Jodi F.
Jodi has been working in the medical field for over 20 years. While most of her time has been dedicated to veterinary medicine, she worked for several years in human medicine as a sterilization specialist. In addition to a Certificate in Sterile Process, Jodi also earned a Certificate as a Veterinary Assistant from Pima Medical Institute of Aurora. She has a deep love and passion for all small animals and loves helping them everyday. Jodi, a native of Littleton, Colorado enjoys all things outdoors like fishing and gardening.
